Job Description

Argon Corporation designs and produces rugged military computers and displays for land, air and sea applications. All our products are designed for combat vehicles and are sold worldwide. In support of the continued growth of Argon, we are seeking an seasoned sales director, who has experience in our product and market space, who possesses the, attributes and initiative of a “hunter”.  We are seeking to expand our business and need a person who knows where to find, and then, win business in our market space. We are not looking for someone to take over existing business and farm it. The territory will be the United States and Canada. The successful candidate will have prior experience in finding and winning DoD based contracts and has direct experience with C4SIR rugged displays and computers. Our customers are typically the larger prime contractors with some direct DoD sales. We are looking for someone who is respected in the market and by customers, and who can help take us to the next level with your maturity, industry experience, and integrity. Someone who can, and will, embrace the challenges of a smaller, flexible company. Our customers have detailed and demanding requirements. The successful candidate will bring his/her experience to the table in managing the customer, sorting out their requirements and work internally to fulfill these requirements, while ensuring that the interests of both the customer and Argon are met. Doing this requires experience in how military programs are organized and managed. 


Must be able to work independently and effectively while on the road or in the office. It is anticipated that you will travel one up to two weeks per month. Be able to develop and communicate visit plans which yield results. Know how to identify and gain entry into current and emerging programs which can benefit from our strengths and solutions i.e. find the opportunities. Get an audience with you and/or other Argon support personnel. Know, understand and be able to manage the sales cycle for our solutions and products. Be a self-starter. Be able to work well with people at all levels within Argon and our Customers. Possess the ability to bridge the gap between the customer needs, marketing/sales commitments, and product engineering. From there help formulate solutions that ensure the customer is being served and informed throughout the sales cycle and on through delivery. This position will require significant patience, maturity and endurance as the product sell, development, and support cycles can be multiyear.  Sought after qualifications and personal characteristics include:

  1. 4-year Engineering or technical degree or 10+ years related experience
  2. BSEE, not required but preferred (design background not required)
  3. MBA desired
  4. System engineering background desired
  5. 7+ Years of Sales Experience
  6. Direct experience in identifying, managing and winning business with large military prime contractors and DoD organizations
  7. Rugged display, computers or related technology experience required
  8. Experience preparing quotes and proposals for prime contractors and DoD programs
  9. Responsible for planning and managing your travel to Argon policies
  10. Effective at working with the program managers and performing inside sales, where needed.
  11. Requirements analysis experience
  12. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  13. Able to work effectively with both engineering, program management and marketing teams
  14. Can accurately articulate information, such as status, issues, solutions to customers and internally within Argon
  15. Excellent communication skills
  16. High integrity
  17. Must be U.S. citizen
  18. Ability to grow into a leadership role At Argon

The following are some, but not all, of the intended tasks:

  1. Find and cultivate new business
  2. Write winning proposals (or work with program management through the proposal cycle for complex proposals)
  3. Prepare, submit quotes or proposals, then follow up
  4. Following up on and supporting new suspect and prospect inquiries
  5. Updating of Sales Funnel, entry of data into our ERP system
  6. Provide internal awareness of customer issues and concerns
  7. Be the advocate of the customer within Argon
  8. Post-Sales Support
  9. Coordinate technical investigations, as needed to keep progress on track
  10. Keeping factory management informed of issues/status
  11. Follow up to customers with status and commitments and current planning
  12. Marketing Support
  13. Help plan and attend trade shows
  14. Updating of collateral materials
  15. Support strategic planning for future products and business
  16. Be a leader in the company, by working throughout the company to help build processes, procedures, strengthen the company, etc.
